The holiday season: a time for family, friends and lots and lots of shopping. But where and what are people spending their money on? Let's dive into it:
Retail shopping is slightly on the rise but still can’t compare to the ease of online shopping.
The chaotic nature of the global economy was to blame last year for a large decrease in luxury brand sales. As impeachment proceedings and Brexit continue to shake up the global economy, 2019 may not be any different.
Less than a quarter of surveyed consumers plan on shopping at local businesses for their holiday shopping as department stores and online shopping take the bulk of their purchases.
Off to the races
Holiday shopping started early this year as about half of consumers began getting gifts before Thanksgiving.
Consumers between the ages of 18-34 are budgeting about $100-200 less for holiday gifts this year than older age groups.
